More than one witch has expressed the idea that they find it distinctly empowering to work magick during thunderstorms. According to Christos Beest, whenever he would use his art to channel the demons of the Goetia, storms would accompany his channelings. The deliberate causation of storms (at the hands of the archfiends) implies a magickal efficacy which is inherent in storms. The rain serves an obvious purpose, as running water is a magickally powerful thing. Fire is known to be a magickally powerful thing as well, so perhaps lightning serves a similar function. You'll never catch me talking shit about the Temple of Set for one simple reason: I don't know their material. Once I've reread  Black Magic  by Aquino attempted some of the  66 Secret Setian Rites  you can bet I'll give my full goddamn review. One group that constantly talks shit about the Temple of Set is a nexion (grotto) of the Order of the Nine Angles called WSA 352-- a group of "Progressive Satanists" with strong influences from gang culture and oriental spirituality. The name stands for Waffen-Schaft Azagthoth, which basically translates to army/soldiers of Azagthoth, the supreme being in ONA cosmology and old Islamic belief. One of the WSA 352's main texts is called  Opus Vrillis , a very expansive work which contains, among other things, a series of rituals. Various occult groups push the witch to perform evocations of spirits which interest them without researching them ahead of time. The idea then is to get to know the spirit by sensing things about it and asking it about itself. The witch's absence of preconceived notions allows the spirit to delineate the aspects/specialties of itself which are most relevant to the needs of the witch. A plethora of preconceived ideas will prevent you from truly understanding the spirit and make it difficult for the spirit to communicate its other faculties to you. The end result is that the witch contemplates the spirit instead of learning about the spirit.
