Satanism is not a Reaction to Christianity

There are several major Satanic traditions practiced by the world at large, and certain ill-formed and poorly-researched commentators have alleged that Satanism derives from or is a reaction to Christianity or related religions. In reality, Satanism is not a progression from Christianity-- it's a progression from Occidental/Occult spirituality. By this I mean Thelema, the Typhonian tradition, Discordianism, etc. In addition to these, the philosophies of Jung, Nietzsche, and Myatt have all made significant contributions to the Satanic weltanschauungen. While Hebrew lore plays a part in shaping the beliefs of the Satanist, the Biblical canon is inferior in the extent of its influence to Jewish Mysticism, the apocrypha, Gnosticism, etc. That's easily proveable: ask any Satanist what Leviathan is, and they will tell you that Leviathan is the primeval aspect of Sathanas as the dragon of Tehom. If you were to ask a Christian the same question, she would tell you that the Leviathan is

Azal and the Nine Angles

Image
"How do the Nine Angles relate to Azal, Dhar and Zamal, and what Earth-bound (causal) form (structure/construct) is used to symbolize this?" Anton Long once provided a hint to this question which read as follows: " One Possible Answer: Daar ul-Islam is one possible form (literally: the realms of Islam). A causal construct used to manifest some-thing beyond the causal (i.e. a-causal). A Khilafah – led by a Khalifah (a leader, or chief) – is one type of such a causal construct; an Earth-based Imperium, which correctly led and correctly developed, can be the basis for a Galactic khilafah/imperium. Thus, such a construct symbolizes the animation of the nine angles by acausal energy – a means whereby acausal energies (that which animates and makes alive) become presenced among humans. Such a Khilafah animates human beings (especially mundanes) to make them a means to what is beyond them [...] A Khilafah is just one such form, one such causal construct which has the potential

Nine is the Number of the Devil

Nine is supposed to be the number of pride, according to Michael Aquino, because it always returns to itself when subjected to simple mathematical equations. 9 x 3 = 27; 2 + 7 = 9 9 x 9 = 81; 8 + 1 = 9 In Gematria, nine is the value of Ge'ah, the Hebrew word for pride. Leviathan is supposed to be the king over the prideful, and Lucifer was purportedly expelled because of pride-- it seems to me that the Bible's allegations of pride are really a misanthropic rendering of the qualities of self-determination and ipseity which Satan purportedly conferred onto humankind in the form of the Black Flame. Ergo, I posit that 9 is the number of the Devil and his Black Flame. Nine has received various attributions throughout world mythology, and a couple seem to verify my postulation. For instance, there are a total of nine substance combinations in Alchemy (three permutations of each of the alchemical substances, (namely salt, sulfur, and mercury)), which seems comparable to the nine unive

Baratchial

Image
Image: the Nineteenth Enchantment by G. A. Rosenberg (depiction of Baratchial) The meaning of Baratchial's name is "Poison of God," and he is attributed to either the 12th or 19th Kliffotic Path depending upon where you start counting. The tunnel over which he presides is between Chaigidel (ruled by Baelzebuth and associated with Uranus) and Thaumiel (ruled by Molock and Satan and associated with Neptune and Pluto). Baratchial's tunnel is associated with Mercury, which makes a large amount of sense considering the didactic nature of that planet in astrology. It is the pathway of sorcerers. Baratchial can reveal the nature and origin of any spell he is asked about and can reveal the truth about the origin of the Qliphoth. He can give details about many different Qliphothic entities and secret realms within Hell. He has mastery over sexual black magick and he can initiate the witch into the most esoteric magickal mysteries of the Qliphoth. He can manipulate the psyche a

Self-Definition via Abstraction and the Nature of Mundanes (Discourse)

Participants:  V. K. Jehannum,  A. A. Morain,  Some Nobody Who Hates the ONA, Acephalic Mysticism,  Wiccan Friend, Satanist Friend, G. A. Rosenberg,  Acausality,  Another Critic In the Sinister Tradition, the common man is called a "mundane." The esoteric signification of this pejorative [insulting title] is someone who is BOUND by abstractions and DEFINES THEMSELVES BY THEM. "I'm an Anarchist." "I'm a Nihilist." "I'm an emo." Blah blah fucking blah. This people are innocuous and we do not need them.  The mundanes not only serve their ego, they also serve a superego to which they are devoted. Of course, it is always an Interesting discussion where nihilism starts and ends. To be aware of the fact that one's way of living serves an ideological purpose, or recognizing that you are lived by a system denotes that you can see through it. Not an easy one. The Sinister dialectic works when one 'serves' a system in order to questi

A Storm for Melanie

Image
More than one witch has expressed the idea that they find it distinctly empowering to work magick during thunderstorms. According to Christos Beest, whenever he would use his art to channel the demons of the Goetia, storms would accompany his channelings. The deliberate causation of storms (at the hands of the archfiends) implies a magickal efficacy which is inherent in storms. The rain serves an obvious purpose, as running water is a magickally powerful thing. Fire is known to be a magickally powerful thing as well, so perhaps lightning serves a similar function. Here follow two excerpts from one of the allegories in the Deofel Quintet, the first of which is only one sentence long. "The storm pleased Melanie and she danced naked in her garden while the rain washed her body as she sucked the storm's health in. ...The twilight of closing cloud and strong wind coloured the sky near the descending sun, and Melanie stood in the circle’s centre calling on the storms to break. Can a Niner use Qliphothic Sorcery?

What follows is heresy. All critiques will be addressed, if they are worth addressing, with the amount of respect with which they are made. These views are mine alone. For future reference, observe the notes which follow. I have put one part of the text in  blue  to signify that it is only really relevant to people with a strong comprehension of O9A esotericism, so if it goes over you head, skip over it. -Cliology is the science of Aeons and the acausal. -Aeons, as understood by the Order of the Nine Angles, are very different from what Crowley and Aquino call Aeons. Aquino has defined an Aeon as a world view. The witch enters this or that Aeon via the acceptance of certain recent spiritual revelations. Long's understanding will be divulged in simplified terms later in the essay. -Anton Long calls the modern Aeon the Thorian Aeon and calls the (purportedly) coming one the Galactic Aeon. -Anthropogenic means coming from humanity. For example, if one argues that climate change is ant

Vampyrism in Astral Combat

(The following is from an anonymous ONA member, reproduced with permission) Before going to sleep as per [an ONA member's] instruction i wrapped myself in my tendril to protect during sleep to prevent entities feeding on me in my sleep. This... this gets interesting what comes next. I slept in a female's bed tonight. I had dreams about ona, the future, all sorts of things. I woke up startled just now to the sensation of touch on my hand to see the girl's hand "creepy crawling" like a spider - backwards, behind her head, on my hand. I grab her hand reflexively with my other hand. She opens her eyes with my other hand grabbing hers tightly. "Did you do that to me?" I ask. She looked at me like i was an insane person. "Did you touch me in my sleep" i say to her. "This" i say, and take her hand still clutched in my hand and put it back in the position it was in, backwards behind her head, touching my hand creepy crawly style. "Ow!&qu

Physis and "Becoming Magick"

Image
Art: Nocturnal Commissions by G. A. Rosenberg When asked why any given person should take up the study and practice of sorcery, Aleister Crowley said that everyone performs magick, so the individual might as well become good at it. Everyone does indeed work magick involuntarily-- we subconsciously emanate our expectations onto the world around us. This is why magickians are so often warned not to allow others, particularly the uninitiated, to know what the intended outcome of any particular spell being cast are-- the involuntary exertion of their normalcy bias will hinder the results which the practitioner is striving for. The witch is also cautioned not to stress about the intended results and to believe that she has done all that she can once she has acted upon the issue through the Craft. A spell often comes into effect once the witch stops thinking about it because stressing about the matter involuntarily tampers with the energy you've sent to remedy it. Because of this tendenc

Aquino on the Failure of the Church of Satan

"By 1975 Anton LaVey, having presided over nine years of mercurial individuals and Grottos, reluctantly concluded that, while the philosophy of Satanism had lost none of its popular appeal, the Church of Satan itself was largely a failure. A small, stable nucleus of serious and sincere devotees had indeed developed, but for the most part the Church had served to attract merely fad-followers, egomaniacs, and assorted oddballs whose primary interest in becoming 'Satanists' lay in being able to flash their membership cards for cocktail-party notoriety. Anton decided that the Church might as well be converted to a vehicle for his personal financial benefit, hence in May of 1975 he announced a decision to sell the Satanic Priesthood and all higher degrees for funds or objects of value. ------------------------------ Upon founding the Church, Anton had claimed for himself the titles of High Priest of Satan and Magus of the Age of Satan. By 1969 he had begun to ordain others to t

If You Want Me to Believe that Myatt is Dead You'll Have to Show Me a Body

Image
I was initially notified of Myatt's purported death by independent correspondents, and I naturally doubted the veracity of the claim to begin with (as I'm told that most people did). Once I became aware that the source of the claim was the author of "Sinister Polemics," I became certain that the claim was a "jape" (that word means prank). The reason that I put the word "jape" in quotations is that the japes made by the ONA are most often of a particular kind and the ONA is renowned for making them. If you are familiar with the website Scribd, you may know that the individual who posts those massive stashes of the ONA literature there there named himself "Dark Japer," which is symptomatic of exactly how renowned the ONA's pranks are. As is outlined in the essay Labyrinthos Mythologicus  regarding the ONA's tendency to conduct japes, it is specified that part of the intent behind them is "to test and select candidates." Ex
