Gusion's name is pronounced "goot-YAWN" and means "Little Dove." According to Goetic Demonolatry by Ellen Purswell, he is associated with “Water, divination, honor, and dignity.” Ravenmore describes him as follows:

Gusion is a great Fomori Lord. He commands 45 legions of his brethren, and when conjured forth often appears as man of middle years, swarthy, and enveloped in voluminous saffron colored robes. Sometimes he has the head of a frog. He speaks softly and his advice always seems good in consequence… but be wary. Appearances can be deceptive. He has a strong dislike of Danu’s second children the Tuatha De Dannan, and her third children, human kind. Treat this great Fomori Lord with respect and caution, lest you lose yourself. Like most of his kind, his memory is long and he remembers well the Time of Exile.

Gusayn is usually said to appear as either a xenopilus or a cynocephalus. He imparts the knowledge of power-- the power of politics, the power of sorcery, the power of beauty-- you get the idea. He can teach the magickian to sense the darkness in someone's soul.

Gusoyn can answer questions and tell the witch why she asked them in the first place. He gives one honor and dignity and brings about the reconciliation of alliances and friendships. He aids in introspection-- he shows you who you really are, and he can remove cognitive blocks which retard your progress. He teaches the witch to astrally project beyond the default realm into other planes which are foreign to her and gives her the power to take power from one who has taken power from others. He helps one unlock the secrets of their power—the secretive powers that lie within.

Pirsoyn grants the wisdom necessary to discern whether someone truly loves you or not and grants the power of perception. He grants the wisdom necessary to see through illusions of good-intentions, attraction, affection, being impressed, and fondness.

This is a spirit good for making friends and for understanding relationships. Being a contractor for a living, I find the influence of the spirits with the ability to reconcile friends and foes to be useful in establishing good relationships with teams that may have already worked together for years.

The traditional enn or summoning chant for Gusion is "Secora Vesa Anet Gusion." I use the chant "Liftoach Pandemonium, et germinet Gusoyn" to presence infernal energy call down Gusion is the process.
